Is it possible that some people are so embarrassed of their family history that they block people out and don't think. What do they think their children will do in school when asked to participate in making the family tree. One of the biggest hurts that I have ever had to endure was having to make a family tree for school. I didn't want to share that my family was German and believed that Hitler was the greatest man ever born. I wanted to be proud of my history. It's sad that now I know my history and my birth family wants me to disappear and pretend they don't exist. It hurts in ways that kept children could never fathom.
I am proud to be of English and Scandinavian descent...I'm sad that I'm supposed to stay quiet about it... Just one more thing that adoptees struggle through... I would love to see the laws change so that we are allowed to know from the beginning the why's the where's and the when's.
