the life of someAdoptee's is a journey that most people can't understand. Everyday there is an up and a down... There is really no day that is level.
Take the ups and downs and then mix in the health of an adoptee and it starts to get more complicated. If that isn't enough to question, add in the unknown of it all. Adoptees are expected to live their whole life not knowing anything about themselves. Even when someone says they are going to participate in an 'open' adoption, it doesn't always work out that way. For some reason the adoptive parents feel like they have permission and control of what happens to the adoptee, even though the adoptee has different genes... They forget to let the adoptee go... They forget that the adoptee needs to know their pre-adoption story so they can go the same expected route of their ancestors. Imagine having amnesia...it's the same feeling that an adoptee can have. All one can wish for is to not have to experience this life of an Adoptee alone. It would be awesome to have more Adoptee competent Psychiatrists or therapists. There should be more groups around that one can feel comfortable participating in and last but not least all we really want is our Heritage free and clear, no strings, no guilt, no shame.
