Everyday CNN has a news story about the Mexican refugees that are separated from their children at the border. At one point I heard a comment from someone saying that it’s their own fault...they knew what was going to happen...the parents are to be held responsible for the trauma that their children have to endure. How is this right? Where is the concern for the children? They didn’t have any say in the separation. As an adoptee, we didn’t have any say either. It’s like saying the birth parents knew what they were getting into when they had sex. And once again the child did not have any say.
Why does everyone think separating the children from the parent is going to be best? Who is it best for? Doesn’t anyone see the problems that come later in life for the child that was removed from their parent?
